Happy Halloween!

I was invited to a great Halloween party last Friday. As you can see, they really go all out with the decor. Lots of great people, great costumes and great food. What more could you want?

Happy Halloween!

Inspirational Weekend.

I had the opportunity to attend the Inspirational Weekend workshop, led by Craig Tanner and Mark Johnson of the The Radiant Vista, over in Seattle this past weekend. It was an incredible experience. Craig's "Myth of Talent" presentation was the highlight of the weekend. He is a great photographer and speaker. I highly recommend attending any of their workshops if you are interested in photography at all.

Here are a couple of shots on the abstract end of photography. Especially for me. They were shot using some techniques I learned in the workshop. Comments would be greatly appreciated, even if they are a bit critical.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!

We celebrated Grandpa Ryan's 90th birthday on Saturday. It was nice to see everyone again. Especially for such a happy occasion. Here are some pics of the get together. And a few interesting facts about how the world has changed during his lifetime.

In 1916 the US population was approximately 91,972,266 people. Today it is approximately 295,734,134. That is more than three times the population of 1916.

Only about one and a quarter million cars were registered in the U.S in 1916 (about one for every 74 people). Today there are over 243 million (nearly one car per person).

On October 11th, 1916, Boston Red Sox beat the Brooklyn Robins 4-3 to go up three games to one on their way to win the 13th World Series (their third title in 5 seasons, and fourth total). There have been 91 championship series since.

A touchdown, in the NFL, was worth five points.

The sixth Indianapolis 500 road race was held in 1916.

Some celebrities he shares a birthday with:

Novelist Elmore Leonard (1925)
Actress Joan Cusack (1962)
Actor Luke Perry (1966)

He was born before women had the right to vote (1920).

He has lived through a Great Depression, Prohibition, two World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm and the war in Iraq.

He has seen sixteen presidents take office.

There were only 48 states in 1916.

On his 20th birthday, there were approximately 200 television sets in use world-wide. Today, there are over 314 million sets in the U.S. alone.

He was two years old when the first commercial airline transported passengers, by plane, between San Francisco and Oakland.

Jennifer and Sam.

I shot a few portraits for a family whose son goes to the school that I work at. Jennifer and Sam are great to be around and fun to snap pictures of. Jennifer is probably the person most responsible for my venture into photography. I was happy to have the chance to take these pics for them. You can view the rest of the portraits here.

Another big thank you to Gloria Waggoner for letting us use the Paulsen House for the photo session.

Angie and Jon.

I was the second photographer for Angie and Jon's wedding last Saturday. It was a beautiful Buddhist ceremony. Something I have never experienced before. Everyone had a blast (including the photographers). Here are some pics of the festivities.

Thanks Everyone!!

Thanks to everyone for making September my most successful month thus far. With eight photo assignments, I have been kept plenty busy. I have had over 150 profile views at the blog, nearly 250 visitors and over 8,000 clicks in the galleries this month alone. Please keep spreading the word and look for my ad in Logan Magazine's premier issue, due out this fall. Thanks again.
