Trip to Africa?

Shawnia asked me to edit a few pics from her recent trip to Africa. Here are a few of her best. Stay tuned for the memory book coming soon.

I'll let her tell you a bit about the trip....

Hi everyone: As Dave said, I had the good fortune to go on a trip to Africa. I went with an organization called 'Hope 4 Kids International'. While I was in Africa, I went on an amazing safari. Posing for a picture with a wild baboon is a little harder than it may seem. I met a lot of wonderful people and I miss all of the friends I made there. I had the opportunity to build a mud-hut for a widow (which got a little messy). It was also very meaningful to meet and spend some time with Tabitha, the orphan I sponsor.

I highly recommend a trip like this to anyone who has the desire to go. You can check out 'Hope 4 Kids International' to learn more about their trips or how to sponsor an orphan.

Alyssa and Kassi

These two were an absolute blast to work with. Best friends since the third grade.... and you could tell. Nothing but smiles for the entire time we shot their senior pictures.

Here are a few of my favorite pics. You can see the rest here.

Thanks Shawnia!!

My beautiful and amazing girlfriend Shawnia has helped me out on a couple of shoots recently. If only everyone could have someone as great as her around the world would be a much happier place. :-)

Emily and Pat's Engagement Shoot

I shot a bit of an urban engagement shoot the other night and had an absolute blast with Emily and Pat.

They are a great couple who really enjoys each other's company. I would be hard pressed to say who laughed more.... Emily, Pat or me. I especially like the super-hero pose they both threw down late in the shoot.

I am looking forward to their wedding in September.

Here are a few of my favorites. You can see the rest here.

Judy and Mike

Judy and Mike are a great couple who asked me to shoot their wedding last Friday. It was the second consecutive wedding at Bozarth Mansion which is a beautiful place to exchange vows. They had quite the lively bunch for the ceremony and reception that followed.

Connoiseur's Concert

Connoisseur’s Concert is an evening of fine wine, dining and music organized by Gloria Waggoner of the Episcopal Diocese to benefit Paulsen House. It was an amazing get-together that I had the honor of documenting.

As many of you may know, Gloria and St. John’s Cathedral have been huge supporters of Dave Ryan Photography. They were pivotal in my decision to start a photography business. After seeing my fine art print of the bell tower, Gloria promptly held a catered gallery showing of all of my fine art prints. Since the gallery showing, I have been invited back to shoot fine art prints in and around Paulsen House.

Paulsen House is a historical mansion that houses the Episcopal Diocese and Gloria along with her husband Bishop Jim Waggoner.

Gloria’s shop (Rosa Gallica) is now open in the basement of Paulsen House. It is an amazing and eclectic little lifestyle boutique with style galore. Fair trade items include Dagoba chocolate and coffees. Soy and bee’s wax candles are in abundance. It is a perfect place for the eco-minded and worldly-conscious person. And all proceeds from the shop go towards the maintenance, restoration and/or renovation of Paulsen House.

Here are a few of my favorite pics from the festivities. You can see the rest here.
